Playing some ME2 on Insane again i got to say, it's just not as much fun. Not because the enemy have more Health or better armour, which is fine, but your allies die instantly in a lot of fights, like before they have a chance to get to cover. Once of twice is fine, but when it happens at least once every other mission & you're just left running about with Shep' by himself it's just a choice between slowly chipping away and hoping you're not rushed during a cool down or just dying in the hopes the team will do better next time & you'll have a hint of tactics.
It doesn't help that the squad-mates often leave the cover you told them to hold position in to run across enemy fire just for S**ts and Giggles.
This mode fails to test the skill of the player as much as it tests their patience & the luck regarding team AI. A very good game but not a good Hard-mode.
I've played the Hardest mode in pretty much every game i've played at least for one play through. I have not always made it through but I rarely found myself shouting at the game as much.
Other Issues are :
> The lack of crouch button, instead you must magnetise yourself to cover and as such once you leave that cover, are knocked back from the cover or turn to far around, you stand up and may as well have a target on your helm. Bad combo when the enemies can often one-shot on insane mode.
> The repetitive tedium of searching a planet for minerals, then running out of probes, going to another system to get more [also fuel] & rinse repeat.
> The weapons in the first one had a cool down rather than ammo, It was a change from the bog standard FPS & a nice change of pace. Not in this one though, more cover based FPS-ing please.
> Some characters were better some were worse, breaks even there.
> Some people hated the first games Mako, i found it fun to peg about on & a good break in play style.
> The Terrain. Things you should be able to use as cover you can't some things that are only knee hight you can't climb & interaction with the levels is generally poor.
> After Cerb' Pul ol Shep back together they also messed up his legs, seriously this time round he/she can't run literally to save his/her life.
